There doesn't have to be a schema at all, nor do the documents you put 
into a database necessarily have to conmform to a schema if there is 
one. (One big difference between SQL and XML).

Do any of the XML databases out there actually require that users 
provide a schema and then automatically reject all documents that do not 
conform to that schema?
