Are you talking purely about "XQuery the programming language", or xquery as part of an xml server with all the functionality they provide (through vendor extensions)? -- Andrew Welch http://andrewjwelch.com From james.fuller.2007 at gmail.com Wed Sep 21 05:44:35 2011 From: james.fuller.2007 at gmail.com (James Fuller) Date: Wed, 21 Sep 2011 14:44:35 +0200 Subject: [xquery-talk] XQuery 2011 Survey In-Reply-To: References: Message-ID: On Wed, Sep 21, 2011 at 11:42 AM, Andrew Welch wrote: >> In prep for talk at GOTO Arhas 2011, I have created a poll as part of >> an analysis of the productivity of the XQuery programming language. >> >> http://jimfuller2011.polldaddy.com/s/xquery2011 >> >> Please consider taking the time to fill it out and forward it to >> anyone you think could contribute (negative/positive criticisms >> equally welcom). > > Are you talking purely about "XQuery the programming language", or > xquery as part of an xml server with all the functionality they > provide (through vendor extensions)? we have been purposely vague, so please answer with either context engaged (even better if you point this out )... the polls questions were created with the assistance of a friend who does this for a living and is part of a larger analysis. Glad to hear that, thanks to both of you! ? Is there any place to report issues? (I couldn't try it yet because of some problem in the shell script) ?Do you pass by an intermediary XML format to represent extracted documentation before formating it? (and makeing it reusable for, say, XSLT and > XProc :-p) yes, that intermediate format is xqdoc markup ... the src/xquery/xquerydoc.xq parse($module as xs:string) function will emit this markup so you can style it however way you like. the xproc is just 'glue' for invoking and then styling with stylesheets in src/lib but of course you can invoke from your own xquery and style how you please. to see an example of the styled output check out the docs/api hth, J > > ?
